I've been playing on Instagram for over a year now (lets ignore how many hours!) and during this time I have created a theme of Little Homes for some of my photographs. Lots of wonderful instagram users have also added to the
#littlehomes tag and share photographs of tiny houses from all around the world. Looking back at the collection now has become such a fun way to armchair travel and enjoy various forms of architecture from across the globe.
So when I was recently given a beautiful A4 size sketchbook of handmade paper I decided I could fill it with illustrations based Little Homes photographs I've taken around Sydney. It's always simpler to set these outlandish goals when, like me yesterday, you have no real comprehension of how long these drawings take and how challenging they can be on ones patience! Choosing the above photograph I took last week of a beautiful terrace house in Darlinghurst, full of tiny details, drawing it first in pencil then finally with pen took about 3 hours. I was planning on an hour. Next house will not have cast iron lace work I can assure you! (I also learnt that erasers remove layers of delicate handmade paper far too easily)
